There's a trick you can pull with these complexes, too - you can link docking hubs! That helps spread out your factories quite a bit. (Though I made my last one a bit too close - ships come in pretty fast from the jump gates and are overshooting the dock, forcing them to waste time turning around. That lets a ship jumping in simply turn and dock without having to worry about whatever mess I make out of the complex factories. Then I stick the docking hub out in front of the plane, not far from the gate but not too close. I like setting mine up a little BEHIND the plane of a jump gate and a bit off to the side. The AI doesn't navagate pipes all that well so putting the hub inside a ball of pipes will cause a lot of ship crashes. The main thing you want to do with a complex is make sure the docking hub is sticking out toward where ships will be coming in. It's part of Split core so it's well patrolled and there's lots of energy one sector to the north.īall of twisted pipes? You won't make a mint but it's a nice place to start out. You might want to check the place out and, if there's still a food shortage there, pop together a quick little complex of Teladi food. The region around Profit Center Alpha always seems short on food and there are some stations there that you'll probably find handy later so it would be nice if they didn't starve to death. Haul some choice rocks off in a clear area and build there. (Though there's probably a lot of compitition, too.) Hopefully there will still be two energy stations there to buy from or ships might have to fly clear up to the Power Circle to get energy. Ore Belt - it's safe, close to a jump drive store, and there will be plenty of Argon around to sell to. Never build next to a Xenon or Pirate sector. Good standing with ArgonDefinitely not - there's a lot of plot that happens at that one. The south sector is a good one but be sure to give all your ships jump drives and use a tractor beam to pull the good astroids near the gate. Wait for that to finish before building there. Good standing with ParanidI believe the north one is involved in a plot story. Second, there are actually too many rocks! Autopilots, especially for big ships, don't deal with that many rocks very well. You MUST make friends with them if you're going to build here or they will torch the place. take it with a grain of salt or, better yet, an entire salt lickīad standing with YakiTwo problems here. In fact, you already have found better! And you don't have to pay for those. The sector you can earn has some but you can find better. I think it's safe to tell you that there are NO asteroids in the HUB sector. You can get to a lot of sectors fast by doing the letter for another sector that's close to it then select with the mouse. Is it a station or a complex? Everything I have read says it's smack in the middle of a bunch of xenon sectors. Should I finish these two plots before starting a complex? I've read about the sectors given as a reward, how do they compare to any other sector? Also, in fear of spoiling more of the plot, I haven't read much on what this HUB is. They are usually well supplied with asteroids and most of them are limited to one or two entry points. I was thinking that an Unkown Sector would be a good place to start. I also have a couple questions about two plots that tie into it. I'm thinking about starting my first complex and I'm looking for suggestions on a good sector to start in.
